Seasoned Logs
Seasoned logs are pieces of wood that have been left to dry over a period, typically for six months to two years. This drying process, known as seasoning, reduces the moisture content of the wood to below 20%, making it more suitable for burning.
Kiln Dried Logs
Kiln dried logs are dried in a large kiln. This process is much quicker than seasoning and allows for significantly more consistent drying process. Kiln drying achieves a significantly lower moisture content (~10%). This makes it ideal for getting a fire going for hours with minimal tending and ensures a “clean”, safe burn each time.
